We are looking to take on an ambitious Engineering Manager to join our team.

Maintenance Management:

  • Develop both planned and reactive maintenance programmes for all areas and carry our maintenance tasks.
  • Introduce effective spares inventory to support asset care systems.
  • Prepare and oversee insurance inspections.

Budget Management:

  • Create and manage zero-based engineering budgets in association with area managers.
  • Control Engineering spares stock to ensure adequate levels are maintained at all times.
  • Reduce utility costs through Continuous Improvement processes.

People Management:

  • Develop an asset care strategy and ensure that all production teams understand their roles in autonomous maintenance tasks.
  • Development and mentoring of Engineering Apprentice.
  • Manage the wider engineering team through key sub-contractors, allocating people and resources to tasks in the most efficient and effective way.

Hygiene, EH&S & Legal Compliance:

  • To meet and exceed production quality standards at all levels.
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff within the workplace.
  • Manage engineering legal compliance requirements and calibrations.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are always in place and complied with.

Project Management

  • Taking an active role in the 3-year site development programme
  • Ownership of small and medium-sized site projects ensuring completion to agreed budgets and timeframe

Your ideal background:

  • A qualified artisan, preferably demonstrating both mechanical and electrical skills with a flexible and hands-on approach as required subject to schedules and production issues.
  • Experience in a FMCG packaging environment, preferably cider/beer.
  • A good understanding of health and safety.
  • Coaching style with the ability to develop and grow people’s knowledge and capability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • A disciplined approach to work including the ability to work under pressure to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good planning and organizational skills with an ability to operate independently and attention to detail.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to motivate, lead and inspire a team
  • A confident, determined character with the ability to communicate amongst a variety of people from customers to contractors to Managers and Directors.
  • A hands-on and proactive approach with a positive "can-do" attitude.
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach to workload
