Full terms & conditions:

  1. Promotion is open to individuals who are aged 18 or over, except employees of the promoter (Cornish Orchards, their agents or anyone professionally associated with this promotion;
  2. The multiple choice question that people are required to answer to enter is: ‘What do we call a male bee? A: Apiarist B: Queen C: Drone’ – Those who answered ‘C: Drone’ only – will be included in the final prize draw to win as this is the correct answer;
  3. The winner must be 18+;
  4. Applies to UK residents only;
  5. Promotion Period: Participate between 13:00 on Friday 31st May 2019 and 23:59 on Thursday 20th June.
  6. Maximum 1 entry per person. Duplicate entries will not be counted.
  7. To participate:  If you have not already done so, follow the Cornish Orchards Facebook page and find the promotional post on Facebook.  Submit the correct answer to the question in the promotional post (in the comments), and Like and Share the promotional post before the end of the Promotion Period.  
    1. Prizes: One x person will win the following prizes:
      1. Self-catering stay in a Roundhouse at East Thorne in Bude, Cornwall for up to 4 people max (2 x adults and 2 x children under 16 only):
        • either a 4 nights max if taken on a weekday or a 3-night stay max – (Fri, Sat, Sun) stay in a 2 berth or 4 berth roundhouse;
        • This will include full luxury wooden furnishings, private garden, wood-fired hot tub, fully fitted kitchen with appliances and utensils, 2 bedrooms (1 double for adults and 1 twin for the kids), and an en-suite bathroom.
        • Your stay will NOT include travel, extra activities, food or drink. This will be at an extra cost to the winner.
        • Dates will be agreed with the winner and the booking will be managed by Cornish Orchards.
      2. 2-day entry into the Eden Project for up to 4 people (2 adults & 2 children under 16);
      3. Private tour of the Cornish Orchards cidery (led by Head Cider Maker Chris Newton – taken on a weekday); and 
      4. £200 towards spending money (this can be used towards travel, food, drink, activities etc.) 
      5. The Prizes (East Thorne getaway, Cider Tour, Eden Project passes, spending money) MUST BE TAKEN AT THE SAME TIME AND IN FULL BEFORE 11th MAY 2020.
    2. Runner Up prize: One person will win a runner up prize which includes the following items:
      1.  Hamper: a Cornish honey-themed hamper with a selection of honey-based products from the Eden Project, Cornish Orchards and Buttermilk Confectionary.
      2.  Images for illustrative purposes only.  
    3. For further prize details please see clause 24.
  8. Prizes are not transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash.  In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a Prize for an alternative of equal or greater value; 
  9. Facebook:  This promotion is not associated with Facebook and Facebook is in no way responsible for the administration of this promotion;
  10. Winner Selection:  All valid entries received by the Promoter during the Promotion Period will be submitted into a prize draw to be conducted by or under the supervision of an independent body on or before 20th June 2019. Winner will be selected at random.
  11. Winner notification:  The provisional winner will be notified by direct message to the Facebook account associated with the winning entry.  The Winner must respond to the initial communication within 48 hours, confirming compliance with these terms and conditions and eligibility.  Failure to comply with this timeframe may result in disqualification of that winner and the prize being awarded to a reserve selected in the same manner. The winner will be announced through our social media channels on July 2nd at 12 pm.
  12. Unclaimed Prize:  If, despite the best efforts of the Promoter, the prize remains unclaimed, the Promoter shall not be obliged to allocate the prize but may withdraw it from the promotion and use it as it sees fit.
  13. The winner may be requested to participate in publicity arising from the promotion, though for regulatory reasons if the winner is or looks under 25 such publicity will not include photographs of the winner;
  14. Privacy – entering: The details you provide when entering this promotion will be used by those who are managing this promotion on behalf of the Promoter.  Cornish Orchards and will use your details to contact you about the prize and will handle your personal data in accordance with its privacy policy, available here.
  15. Privacy – prize fulfilment: Cornish Orchards will share your personal data only with your consent and only so far as is necessary to manage the delivery of your prize.  Your details will be shared as follows:
    • with East Thorne to manage your accommodation booking and to get feedback on your stay after you leave; on their website as part of their marketing (reviews, blogs, and photos from your stay.);
    • with Asahi Europe Ltd to transfer £200 spending money to your bank account;
    • with Cornish Orchards who will contact you via email to arrange and manage the prize fulfilment and to send you a letter in writing of your win; on their website as part of their marketing (reviews, blogs, and photos from your stay.);
    • with your email, name and contact number will be shared with DPD and FedEx and to manage the delivery of the Cornish honey hamper (runner up).
  16. The Promoter is not liable for third party products or services and prizes are subject to the prize supplier’s terms and conditions;
  17. Bulk entries made from trade, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted.  If it becomes apparent that a participant is using a computer(s) to circumvent this condition by, for example, the use of ‘script’, ‘brute force’, masking their identity by manipulating IP addresses, using identities other than their own or any other automated means in order to increase that participant’s entries into the draw in a way that is not consistent with the spirit of the promotion, that person’s entries will be disqualified and any prize award will be void;
  18. Incomplete, illegal, misdirected or late entries, or entries not in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be accepted.  Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery.  The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.
  19. The Promoter cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury suffered by any entrant entering the promotion or as a result of accepting any prize. Nothing shall exclude the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
  20. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these terms and conditions the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation.
  21. If for any reason the Promotion is not capable of running as planned for reasons (including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion), the Promoter reserves the right (subject to any written directions given under applicable law) to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process.
  22. By taking part in this promotion all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions.
  23. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. 
  24. Further Prize details:
    1. Roundhouse accommodation at East Thorne:
      • The getaway stay excludes bookings during peak season holidays;
      • Must be redeemed between 9th September 2019 and 11th May 2020;
      • Winner will be required to provide proof of age and identity and any documentation as reasonably required by the Promoter in order to validate their eligibility to claim the prize;
      • If a winner is unable to accept the prize, no compensation will be provided;
      • Booking will be made by the promoter;
      • Accommodation is subject to availability;
      • 4 nights max will be allowed for weekday stays;
      • 3 nights max will be allowed for stays on a weekend (must include a Friday);
      • Dates will be provided to the promoter by the winner to source availability;
      • Only accommodation will be paid for (in advance) by the promoter, any extra expenses are not included and will remain the responsibility of the winner (extra expenses include, but are not limited to, travel, food, drink, extra activities, charges etc.);
      • All travel bookings must be arranged and paid for by the winner. Any travel arrangements must be made at least 4 weeks in advance to coordinate other bookings.
      • Once a booking has been confirmed no changes are permitted;
      • Any cancellation charges that occur after booking will be the responsibility of the winner;
      • If a booking is cancelled no alternative prizes will be issued;
      • Once the accommodation has been booked, the Promoter shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations caused by (but not limited to) weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, or any other circumstances beyond the control of the Promoter or travel companies; and
      • All expenses not explicitly set out in these terms and conditions will be the responsibility of the winner;
      • East Thorne will manage data you provide on behalf of the promoter and will use your details to contact you regarding your booking in accordance with its privacy policy.
      • Arrival/Departure:
      • Accommodation will be available from 4 pm on the date of arrival. Sorry but early arrival cannot be accommodated due to cleaning purposes;
      • You are expected to vacate your accommodation by 10 am on the date of your departure;
      • As we are a family run site, we don’t have a staffed reception area. Estimated time of arrival is required so we can light your stove, meet you and settle you in;
      • After 11 pm on the day of your arrival, you may be required to make your own way to your accommodation if not arranged prior to arrival;
      • The accommodation is limited to the number of people on the booking form;
      • No other tents other than those supplied by East Thorne are permitted to be placed on the site;
      • There is an allocation for one car. Extra vehicles should be discussed with the promoter prior to booking.
      • Facilities/Cleaning:
      • Please do not wear outdoor shoes in the yurt or on the carpeted areas in the cottages. Welly boxes will be provided;
      • You are responsible for the cleaning and contents of your accommodation while you are with us including washing up, cleaning of BBQ grill, correct disposal of waste and recycling;
      • Yurts and cottages are supplied with a set amount of bedding/towels. (See descriptions) Any additional bedding/towels required will be charged at the supplementary cost.
      • General Camp Rules:
      • It is to the discretion of East Thorne Yurts and Cottages to cancel or refuse prior to, or during the stay, any booking from parties that we consider unsuitable for our site and/or our other guests without refund;
      • Respect and consideration of our neighbours and fellow site village members must be observed at all times;
      • Smoking inside the yurts and cottages are strictly forbidden. Smoking bins will be provided;
      • East Thorne Yurts and Cottages Ltd. and Cornish Orchards accept no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to personal belongings or persons.
      • Children are the sole responsibility of the accompanying adult;
      • Children are not permitted to tend the fires of the stoves or the fire pit at any time;
      • The central campfire is available to all guests on site though will not be lit in high winds and is to the discretion of the owners.
      • Bringing Pets:
      • We are a dog-friendly site for friendly dogs. If your pet is anxious or aggressive, please be aware that there are other dogs and people on site too;
      • We have a small number of cottages and yurts that accommodate dogs. If you have a dog, this is to be discussed with the promoter Cornish Orchards prior to the booking – this is subject to availability;
      • The only pets permitted on site are those submitted on the booking form;
      • They must be kept on a leash at all times due to other guests and our free-range chickens;
      • It is the responsibility of the owner to clear up any dog mess and we ask that the toilet run takes place off-site;
      • They are not to be left unsupervised at any time. (Day rates at luxury kennels are available on request);
      • They are not permitted on any beds or furniture;
      • A supplementary charge for pets may apply.
    2. 2-day entry pass to the Eden Project:
      • The passes have to be used at the same time as the East Thorne stay;
      • Entry allowance includes up to 2 x adults and 2 x children – under the age of 16;
      • Passes only guarantee you entry into the park;
      • The entry passes will not be provided to you physically, this will be arranged prior to your arrival by the promoter and the full names of your party members will go on an official Eden Project guest list for the selected 2 x days (this will be the Saturday and Sunday if a 3-night stay is selected);
      • The dates of the passes once agreed will be final – no date changes will be accepted;
      • If you do not show up on the allocated days you will forfeit the passes, they will not be exchanged for a cash alternative;
      • Entrance must be between 09.30 and 16.00. Late arrival will not be allowed.
    3. Private tour of Cornish Orchards led by Head Cider Maker:
      • Subject to availability;
      • The tour is only valid on a weekday only, between 09:00 and 16:00;
      • You will be given a 10% discount in the shop for any purchase after your tour;
      • Any purchases will be the responsibility of the winner;
      • Cider tasting is for adults only, any children may taste juices at the discretion of our head cider maker;
      • The tour will be led by head cider maker Chris Newton. The promoter reserves the right to allocate another member of staff in the event that the head cider maker is unwell.
    4. £200 towards spending money:
      • Winner must have a UK bank account;
      • Data will be treated in accordance with Cornish Orchards privacy policy. Available here.
      • Money will be transferred one week prior to your booking.
    5.  Cornish Honey Hamper (runner up prize):
      • Winner must be 18+;
      • Delivery to mainland UK only;
      • The delivery address, contact number of the recipient will have to be provided to the promoter to arrange delivery;
      • The winner is responsible for the collection and re-delivery of any undelivered items;
      • The prize is not transferrable;
      • The promoter accepts no responsibility for damages or loss caused by the courier after the item leaves the vicinity of the promoter. In the event of these unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize for an alternative of equal or greater value;
      • Please allow 4 working days from date of confirmation of your address for delivery.
